bcm4312 firmware download

Broadcom has a noted history with its support for Wi-Fi devices regarding GNU/Linux. For a good portion of its initial history, Broadcom devices were either entirely unsupported or required the user to tinker with the firmware. The limited set of wireless devices that were supported were done so by a reverse-engineered driver. The reverse-engineered b43 driver was introduced in the 2.6.24 kernel.

An Internet connection is the ideal way to install the broadcom-wl driver; many newer laptops with Broadcom cards forgo Ethernet ports, so a USB Ethernet adapter or Android tethering may be helpful. If you have neither, you will need to first install the base-devel package during installation. Then, use another Internet-connected computer to download linux-headers and the driver tarball from the AUR, and install them in that order.

In some cases (e.g. using BCM4331 and b43-firmwareAUR), wifi connection works intermittently. One way to fix this is to check if the card is hard-blocked or soft-blocked by kernel, and if it is, unblock it with rfkill.

I installed Debian Wheezy on my netbook a couple of days ago and forgot to install the Broadcom wifi drivers, while I still had wired access. Now, this morning in the comfort of my bed I wanted to get online from my netbook and realized I have no working wifi on it. Luckily, I happened to have a second laptop with working wireless with me to use as the package downloader, downloaded the required packages to USB drive and copied them to my netbook.

Oh, of course, thanks! So I did the patch and could install the driver.I was trying to do that because this driver is consuming too much battery. While I download some files powertop shows me that:

@nightromantic, thanks for your detailed assistance and pointing me in the right direction(s). Bullet three was now of particular interest to me now. Per bullet one, I did follow the Command Line Setup ( ). Per bullet 2, I have the same result; I can install the driver (dnf install broadcom-wl) but, as you know, have no connection. Per bullet 3 It appears that in order to get the firmware one must now download the rpmfusion Tainted package and install, as shown here: And then use command: dnf install b43-firmware

I have a laptop that I installed Debian(buster) onto that has no GUI also known as (CLI). But for some reason, I can't install firmware-b43-installer it comes up with this error E: Unable to locate package firmware-b43-installer I have a BCM4312 network chip. I followed this tutorial on how to install the firmware I looked around for a solution for hours but couldn't find a working one. I also downloaded a non-official iso from -free/cd-including-firmware/10.7.0+nonfree/amd64/bt-cd/

but when I made a bootable USB with it and installed Debian it seemed like nothing was changed from the original one, the firmware wasn't installed. I have installed wpasupplicant, wireless-tools, network-manager to see if the firmware was installed but if I typed nmcli device wifi list nothing would come up! so clearly this is a firmware issue.

If you don't have an ethernet connection to start with then you have to download wpasupplicant, wireless-tools and network-manager then transfer it over to the Debian machine using a usb drive then you can connect any android device and theater wifi!

If your device has an Ethernet connection, the easiest method is to use an Ethernet cable and physically connect your PC to your router. Most (but not all) Ethernet adapters will be automatically detected. Once connected, you can download Bodhi Linux updates and/or specific drivers as needed.

By far the easiest method to install drivers while connected to the internet, i.e. online. If your laptop/PC has Ethernet capabilities and you can also connect directly to your router using an Ethernet cable, then the strong recommendation is to take the online approach. If you have no alternative, then use another laptop/PC/phone to download the files and transfer them USB Cable/USB Drive to the laptop.

Hi everybody, I'm new with Arch. I have a BCM4312 wireless card issue, the system does not detect it, install broadcom drivers without results, I read that I must install the firmware of the card but it does not work either.

I tried first to install the broadcom-wl-dkms firmware but I did not get it, I downloaded it from the official page and it generated a server error (apparently they moved the route file), I kept looking for it on the web and I found one that also failed by architecture, if you have a reliable site where you can download it, I thank you for showing it to me, my laptop is pentium4.

The usual sequence is to remove your old Broadcom wifi driver first and then to install a broadcom firmware installer (using an ethernet connection of course) and then reboot. This page has a complete explanation.

Thanks @mdooley for your answer. All goes well until I get to "sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer"It asks me to insert disc. Which I do, I press enter and there it buggs.Maybe it's because it asks me to insert in the drive '/media/cdrom/'and I think it's called '/media/esther/' ? Could that be the source of the bug ?

@Esther_HV In order to install firmware-b43-installer, you must have an ethernet connection. For me, that meant walking my laptop over to my router and connecting to the internet via an ethernet cable. Is that possible where you are?

I already did that, let me walk you through what I did:-went to that page-saved the script on the page as .sh, ran under Linux, got the files-copied the resulting .zip and folder to a usb hard drive and booted Haiku, and copied those to my home folder-extracted the .zip file to /root-ran install-wifi-firmwares.shand it still tried downloading the files I provided off the internet.
