When we use any normal picture as a cover picture, Facebook scales it and despite of putting your best picture, your cover pic looks scaled and stretched. If you are good with photoshop, you can always create your own Facebook timeline cover image, and else there are many websites which will let you create and design your own cover picture. Here I have collected a list of few of such online websites, which you can use to personalize your Facebook account.
create amazing cover photos for facebook timeline
Facebook Timeline has given a whole new face on the social networking site and yes, it is much prettier than before. The most enticing feature of the timeline is the cover photo as you can upload a picture that will is much larger that your profile picture. And that sure is a splendid thing. Many of my friends have been confused about what picture to upload as their cover photo, so, I mentioned five websites to create Facebook timeline cover photo.
One of my favorite in the whole list and this site makes the whole process of creating a timeline image lot easier. There are many pre-defined templates out there, and you can use them to start editing and create a unique design.
Canva is one of my favorite tools to create images for my blog. I also make use of canva to create various kind of images with rich graphics like the cover pages of my e-books. Canva is basically not just for the purpose of creating Facebook Cover Page, but it has all of the necessary options which will let you create your very own, fully customized Facebook Cover Photo.
Well I am lazy so I have used Site Canvas a lot. It simple and effective, otherwise I just upload a time cover and adjust in FB itself. But the best is, if you have smashing pictures which concentrate on a particular subject, that should go into the timeline. ?
For computer and desktop, the ideal cover photo is 820 pixels wide by 312 pixels tall. For Facebook cover photo mobile, the ideal size is 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall. If you want to use a perfect single image that matches both computer and smartphone covers combined, try using an image with 820 pixels by 462 pixels. This is a handy way to avoid Facebook automatically adjusting your cover photos to less than the required dimensions and as a result making it blurry. To create the perfect Facebook cover picture, you'll first need to consider the image's dimensions. Facebook recommends cover photo dimensions of 851 pixels wide by 315 pixels tall. Ideally, you'll use an sRGB JPG file of less than 100KBs in size.
Whatever type of cover photo you go with, make sure the quality is right. To avoid blurring when the image is automatically resized, pick a crisp image that is at least 851 x 315 pixels large. It's an odd size, but fortunately, your image can be bigger. Facebook won't distort it, rather you will be able to reposition an over-sized picture to set which part others will see as your cover photo. For an amazing result, however, you might want to invest some extra effort.
If that sounds too complicated, try one of the many Facebook cover photo tools. They can help you crop your favorite photo to the perfect size, add filters, combine several pictures into a collage, or add your pictures to a fun template. With those helpers, it becomes easy to create a custom and amazing Facebook cover photo.
Fotor's Facebook cover photo maker bears a stunning resemblance to Canva, but it's not identical. For one, Fotor uses Facebook's recommended 851 x 315 pixels for the cover image, rather than a much larger size, like Canva does. You'll also find different templates, stock photos, and elements. While Fotor's basic functionality is quite similar to Canva, it does use layers, much like Photoshop.
On my author site, lindaharperwrites.facebook.comI cannot get my profile picture into the smaller site within the Large cover picture. I cannot drag and drop it, I want my picture in the smaller space as my profile pic. But it will not do this. Please check and get back to me asap
Troy, The profile icon is displayed at 125125; however, Facebook oddly requires a minimum upload size of 180180. Unfortunately, the mobile rescale is something controlled by Facebook and your device, so there is nothing I know of that we can do to change how it appears there. I just updated my Facebook iPhone app now, and it still does not display cover photos for Facebook Pages, only personal Profiles. Are you seeing cover photos for Pages in the app version?
Mine changed me over to the new timeline. When I open it I still see my wall in the same way but when others open it they see the cover photo and timeline. If you click on your profile name in top right corner you can see how others see it.
Thank you so much for this information. In the past I found myself guesstimating and going to extremes to make things line up! now with the exact pixel measurements it took me less than 2 minutes to achieve the timeline cover/profile image that look blended together. ?
You're in luck. There are plenty of sites popping up that are full of photos, some classy and some trashy, which are optimized for a Facebook cover. While some sites are attempting to charge to make a cover for you, you can find plenty that want to give you a cover for free (although some Web sites will place a watermark on the photo).
One of the sites with a wide variety of covers is Facebook Timeline Banner. This site allows you to save a photo to your computer, upload it to your Facebook account, and then set it as your cover photo. Most, if not all, of the photos are watermarked with the original site where the photo was found.
Facebook cover photos are a perfect example of how social media marketing is different than just regular social media usage. A great personal cover photo can be anything that we think looks great on profile; our business cover photos need to do much more.
The perfect Facebook cover photo size goes a long way in helping you make a great first impression with new users. Your image look good when displayed on both mobile and desktop, without bizarre cropping or the image showing up off-center. Combining the perfect cover photo size with Facebook cover photo best practices can help you build the social presence and reputation that you want to create for your business.
You can find all the photos you've been tagged in by clicking Activity Log that appears on your profile page in the lower right of your cover photo. In the left side pane, click Photo Review.
Pic Scatter is by far the easiest. You'll need to give access to your likes, photos, and photos shared with you. Then you can create a montage cover showing a group of your friends or some of your likes. You can also use a specific photo album. But no matter what you choose, make sure you have enough there for Pic Scatter to choose from, to prevent repeating of images.
CoverJunction is a place to both create and share cover images. To create one, you'll need to only give up your photos and email address when connecting to Facebook. You have very limited options when creating one though; you can only upload an image and reposition or resize it. This is mostly for those who've created a unique one for sharing. One you've created it, it's available to everyone, not just you, and even if you revoke CoverJunction's privileges to your Facebook, it will still be listed on their site. If you want your cover image removed, you'll need to email them.
This is my least favorite of my favorites. Unlike Pic Scatter, CoverCanvas wants access to more than just photos, which is always a negative for me. And the results? Not that great. You can generate montages of your profile pictures using a large amount of templates, but I couldn't find any I really liked. Most I thought were messy. Now, the 'name only' covers are more impressive. Very tidy, which is why it's on this list. 2ff7e9595c
